This little Light of Mine- I'm gonna let it shine!!

Posted on Aug 11th, 2007 by Marianne : Spiritual Warrior on the Good Red Road Marianne
Many people ask; What is my purpose in life?

I think we expect our calling to appear from a winged messenger.

Our calling is using our gifts and talents to teach, learn, love, nurture and care for others.   Being an example of authenticity, unconditional love and nurturing.

By using our talents and abilities to make this world a better place, we honor the Divine. Most of the time this occurs one person at a time.

Not honoring our authentic self  by hiding or not using these gifts, talents and abilities, we rob the world of the joy of who we really are.

Living an under-lived life serves no one. Doing a job, or vocation that you are not passionate for serves no one.

Your gifts are the best parts of who you are.   It is easier to admit and accept our flaws and we willingly tell everyone of our shortcomings.   We seem to be ashamed of our talents and feel self conscious saying what we are really good at.

Support others with your praise of their talents, do not criticize or belittle their efforts to be unique, find the courage to do the same.

Hiding your light under a bushel leaves everyone in the dark.

Let it shine, Let it shine Let it shine!!.

Here is the thought for the day!

This little light of mine,
I'm going to let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I'm going to let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I'm going to let it shine,
Ev'ry day, ev'ry day,
Ev'ry day, ev'ry day,
Gonna let my little light shine.

On Monday, He gave me the gift of love;
On Tuesday, peace came from above.
On Wednesday told me to have more faith;
On Thursday, gave me a little more grace.
On Friday, told me to watch and pray
On Saturday, told me just what to say,
On Sunday, gave power divine
Just to let my little light shine. (oh)

Now some say you got to run and hide.
But we say there's no place to hide.
And some say let others decide,
But we say let the people decide.
Some say the time's not right,
But we say the time's just right.
If there's a dark corner in our land,
You got to let your little light shine. (oh)

This little light of mine,
I'm going to let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I'm going to let it shine.
This little light of mine,
I'm going to let it shine,
Ev'ry day, ev'ry day,
Ev'ry day, ev'ry day,
Gonna let my little light shine.

  Namaste,

Marianne,  I was just thinking about that myself in the last few days.  The word 'light' has been in my face lately.  And it just occured to me that maybe that owl feather I found yesterday was a hint, to be 'light as a feather' in whatever I'm doing.  Or maybe I should 'see the light'.  I'm still mulling it over…It's interesting that I was born on Thursday…'a little more grace' - also 'far to go…hmm

Thanks for sharing this.

Probably more about seeing the light ; 'illumination or truth'.

In some indigenous cultures, owl represents wisdom- while in others it represents deceit…all in all it also means to trust that which you cannot see by means of intuition to help you 'see in the dark'…revealing the truth.

In trusting our inner wisdom- we cannot be fooled by ourselves or others….
Thank you for responding…
Shine!

Grace…(how beautiful)

For anyone randomly following this thread..in looking at the dates and the message- it will become clear as to how the Divine is at work in all of our lives…leading us to just the perfect place at the perfect time…

You Grace are a 'shining' example of the power of Faith- a reflection -of the joy in release of what is familiar in order to soar- to stand tall and to breathe free…

To also be aware of the way in which the Universe communicates with us….

The knock at midnight if you will….as explained in the sermon by Dr Martin Luther King-
What will you do when that knock comes at Midnight?

During my spiritual awakening I let go of control at the darkest hour -humbled myself before God and the Universe-

I knelt  and asked. (for the first time in my life)… I need help- I do not know how to manage this any longer and I knew my way was not working- so I succumbed to the will of of my purpose….and to the voice within that I so desperately tried to silence my whole life….

And as I hung to the end of the rope…the loving voice inside whispered…..Let go………

and I did and was realeased…..

Thank you Grace  for your example and your words- thank you for sharing your life with us.

I wish you Love -Peace -and Joy  as your Journey continues….until we meet again..

Love and Light

Thank you, dear Marianne.  It's that letting go that seems so difficult, and yet is so necessary for us to live freely.  Thanks for your blessing of light.
